“Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.”
Psalm 119:133
Guide my steps is another way of saying we need to commit to being a student of God. God uses his Word as a primary way to speak to us. The word of God is filled with principles, instructions, and wisdom to live a better life. The parables, stories, and the full truths are examples to instruct us in our relationships and our behavior with God and others.
Overcome/Dominion – the power to control or govern.
23 The Lord makes firm the steps
Psalms 37:23-24
of the one who delights in him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
His grace allows us to be guided step by step to be able to withstand trouble times, and not gain control or dominion. We live in a world that is mostly wickedness (1 John 5:19, Galatians 1:4, and Philippians 2:15), so it is important for us to have our steps ordered and delighted in Him. It’s important for us to spiritually grow, and discern wrong from right. Also, seek God to fulfill the calling we have over our lives and many other promises.
What to do this week? Take some time to study and read God’s word. Ask and pray that you can gain some understanding about what you’re reading. Ask for God to speak to you and give you a revelation regarding His will for your life.
Everything that God has for us, is already written. It is up to us, to grow in our spirit and become the creation God has created us to be. During this, you will begin to hear from God in different ways, more than before. His word is life, and contains any question you have with an answer.
