The three state of awareness: Hindsight, Foresight, and Insight.

” There are three things that amaze me, four that I do not understand: the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a young woman.” -Proverbs 30:18-19

“You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.” – Quran 17:36

Both of these statements are great examples to look into the three states of awareness. God created humankind to posses the ability to think, reason and to question. The mind we all have should be used with willpower of our faith and make good, informed decisions of our own free will. The eagle is a representation of observation, looking at everything below while gracing their wings amongst the wind. They have a field vision of 340 degrees, no predators can threaten them other than man. Eagles are also opportunistic. They can see all around its environment and understand what is happening (hindsight). They have the ability to use discernment when they see an opportunity and act on it (insight). Lastly, they have the physically see far from a distance (foresight).

There’s so much complexities of God’s creation, the mechanisms, the process, and the destination. However, all God created is operated by laws. Whether you want to say God, Divine, Universe, Allah, or anything in that arena. We all can admit that God is omnipresence and omnipotent, there’s no distinctive separation. For we as humankind, create these narrow minded system of names to logically make sense in our brains to a high power that complexities that will never be understood by the brain, but only by the spirit. All of these mysteries are understood by the divine spark, God which created each of us. All the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge we possess within us [Colossians 2:3].

Hindsight is understanding past situation or events after they have taken place. Many would say ‘ life is the best teacher to show you where you shouldn’t go back to or what you would do differently going forward.’ It is based on using the knowledge you gained from your past to make different future decisions or actions. It’s normal that people opt to use hindsight due to the sense of regret or missed opportunity. I prefer to look at hindsight as a valuable tool for learning and self improvement. Although, it will not always help you in preventing future mistakes or achieving success. There’s a balance of lessons from hindsight with proactive planning and decision making skills that foresight will apply to achieve those optimal outcomes for your advantage.

Foresight is the ability to plan and anticipate for future events or outcomes. It is based on using your knowledge, intuition, and experiences to make an informed decision that will benefit you in the long run. It requires you to be proactive and have the willingness to consider many possibilities and scenarios. How do you know that you are using foresight at a high level? When you can identify potential problems or opportunities before that surface, allowing yourself the time needed to take action on mitigating any risk or capitalizing on outcomes that are in your favor.

In short, insight is discernment, the ability to see clearly and intuitively into the nature of a person, situation or subject. Insight encompass both foresight and hindsight. Insight is grasping the present moment to find understanding.

If you feel like your lacking in being able to have these three states of awareness or if you truly don’t want to admit to yourself that you do lack a sense of awareness. Some things that will help you would be:

1. Being non-judgmental: Being able to look into the mirror and be kind to yourself. It is an hinderance to be highly judgmental of others or critical of yourself because you are blocking your vision. Develop a compassion wisdom narrative and seek self-compassion that will benefit you. Therefore, you will not be in a place of bitterness, anger, frustration, judgmental, or any negative entity.
2. Support: When we feel supported in our lives, it’s so much easier to be brave. If you feel as if you dont have support or dont feel connected to the people in your life, take a look how to increase feelings of connectedness throughout your day and your life. This doesn’t mean fixing relationships with people who are obvisiouly showing you who they are, but it’s about taking a step back and nurturing the support that has always been consistenet in your life.
3. Courage: it takes courage to act in a process of change. It’s a lot of bravery that comes into play when you use hindsight, foresight, and insight all in one. Having those three state of awareness at a high level is not for the weak minded or lazy, it’s for the strong and determined. If you categorize yourself as such, continue to speak what already exist when you.

How can your businesses combine hindsight, insight, or foresight? How much can your life change if you implemented this kind of awareness? Is your fears and insecurities stopping you from reaching this kind of awareness? When you look into the past, are you bitter, regretful or angry? When you look into the future, are you fearful or worried? When you look at your present, are you content or grateful? These questions are starting points that will allow you to gain the answers from God for yourself for your self improvement and for the life that you’re heart desires.

Everything that you do in this life, will be written or recorded. Everything that you speak amongst another will return back at your door. Every thought you embrace with action, will be the seeds you sow for your own life. Are you aware of your thoughts, your actions, and your mind? Or does your body have more control over you than the spirit God gave to you?
