The Steward’s Heart: Wisdom, Purpose, & Power within.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

In a world driven by personal ambition and self-promotion, the biblical call to stewardship stands in quiet contrast. It’s not just about managing resources or giving financially. It’s about the heart, the wisdom, and the purpose behind how we live.

God has entrusted each of us with something eternal: gifts, wisdom, and a calling. As 1 Corinthians 2:7 reminds us, “we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory.” That wisdom isn’t just information—it’s a sacred responsibility. When we receive God’s wisdom, we’re expected to apply it—not just for our benefit, but for others.

Paul puts it plainly in 2 Corinthians 4:7-8:

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”

We’re fragile vessels, but God places eternal treasures within us. Why? To show that the power is His—not ours. True stewardship recognizes that everything we have—our talents, our time, our influence—is on loan. And we’re called to manage it well, with humility and purpose.

So, what does a good steward look like?

  • They serve others, not themselves.
  • They walk in wisdom, not impulse.
  • They carry a heart posture of honor, not entitlement.
  • And they understand the weight of what they’ve been entrusted with.

Let this be a reminder: stewardship is more than action. It’s identity. You are a vessel. You are a steward. And your life is the proof that something greater is at work within you.

Challenge: What are you carrying? And are you stewarding it with faithfulness?
